Things to Consider Before Descaling Your Keurig K-Express

The right time to descale a Keurig K-Express coffee maker is when your machine starts making noise, starts tasting differently, or you experience issues with the machine’s performance. Then descale it as soon as you can.

You should descale a Keurig K-Express coffee maker at least once every three months. particularly when using unfiltered water

Your machine has a descaling light, which indicates that it needs to descale after every 250 brews. But you don’t need to wait for the light to come on to descale your machine. You can descale it whenever you feel your machine needs to be descaled.

The Keurig K-Express process of descaling is different from older Keurig models. Whereas in the older models, you just put some vinegar or descaling solution, run some brew processes, rinse the machine, and the descale lights go off.

You must set the Keurig K-Express into “descale mode” and go through the complete process.

The procedure for descaling the machine is also written in the manual which came with the machine when you first bought it

Fill the water tank with the descaling solution and water.

Descale A Keurig K-Express

The first step to descale a Keurig K-Express is to pour the descaling solution into the water tank.

If you are using the Keurig descaling solution, then put the descaling solution in the water tank. Fill the remaining space with water until you get a 1/1 water/descaling solution ratio.

To get an equal amount of water in the descaling solution, just fill the descale solution container you just used with water and mix it in the tank.

Put Your Coffee Maker In Descale Mode

Now, after filling up the water tank with descale solution and water in equal quantities, you just need to put the water reservoir back in the coffee maker. Ensure that there is no K-cup in the Keurig Express. Now let’s put the machine in descale mode.

To put your coffee maker in descale mode, turn off the machine but keep it plugged in. Now press the 6 and 10 oz buttons together for 3 to 4 seconds until the 8oz button lights come on.

Now you’ve put your machine into descale mode. The descale and 8 oz lights should be flashing.

Start the Descaling Process

Do not unplug your Keurig K-Express once it has been put into descale mode.

Now all you need to do is place any container under the coffee maker and press the 8 oz button until the “add water” light comes on. This will most likely happen when you push the 8 oz button twice. In some cases, you need to press it three times as well

It is necessary that you do not press the 8 oz button again after the “add water” light gets on. Even if any descaling solution remains in the tank, this might cause problems with the descaling mode, and as a result, the descale light remains on even after you have descaled it.

Now you need to take out the water reservoir from the machine, clean it with warm water, and shop. After cleaning, without descaling the solution, refill it with new water.

Again, after filling, put the water reservoir in the machine. The “add water” light will go out. The descale and 8oz lights should continue to blink.

Press the 8 oz button until the descale and 8oz lights are taken off. Now your Keurig K-Express coffee maker is out of descaling mode, and you can make a cup of coffee just as normal.

What Should You Do If the Descaling Light Remains On?

After descale a Keurig K-Express, if the descaling lights stay on even after you follow the whole procedure. in some cases, it happens because you could have made a mistake during the process

It is impossible to know what mistake you have made during the process. So instead of knowing the mistake, there is one solution that you should do to turn off the descale light.

The simplest solution is to do the entire descaling process again. But this time, you just need to use water because you have previously descaled your coffee machine.

After doing the process again, your problem will be fixed.

Can I use Vinegar to Descale My Keurig K-Express?
