Process To Descale A Keurig K-Supreme Coffee Maker

To descale a Keurig K-Supreme, first fill the tank with a bottle of Keurig Descale Solution and the equivalent quantity of water. Press the 8oz. and 12oz buttons together until the “K” button begins to flash and the descale light glows.

Press the K button two or three times to turn on the “add water” light. After this, clean the water tank and fill it with fresh water. Press the K button four or five times until the Keurig K-Supreme shuts off.

Things to Consider Before Descaling Your Keurig K-Supreme

The right time to descale a Keurig K-Supreme coffee maker is when your machine starts making noise, starts tasting differently, or you experience issues with the machine’s performance. Then descale it as soon as you can.

You should descale a Keurig K-Supreme coffee maker at least once every three months. particularly when using unfiltered water

Your machine has a descaling light that signals it has to be descaled every 250 brews. But you don’t need to wait for the light to come on to descale your machine. You can descale it whenever you feel your machine needs to be descaled.

The Keurig K-Supreme process of descaling is different from older Keurig models. Wherein the older models, you just put some Viniger or Descaling solution, run some brew processes, rinse the machine, and the Descale lights go off.

You must set the Keurig K-Supreme into “descale mode” and go through the complete process.

The procedure for descaling the machine is written in the manual which came with the machine when you first bought it

Fill the water tank with the descaling solution and water.

descale a Keurig K-Supreme

The very first thing you need to do is bring out the water reservoir from the machine and pour out the remaining water from the reservoir. If you find any water filters in there, then remove those as well. Now pour the descaling solution into the water tank.

If you are using the Keurig descaling solution, then put the entire container in the water tank. Fill the remaining space with water until you get a 1/1 water/descaling solution ratio.

To get an equal amount of water in the descaling solution, just fill the descale solution container you just used with water and mix it in the tank.

Put Your Coffee Maker In Descale Mode

Now, after filling up the water tank with descale solution and water in equal quantities, you just need to put the water reservoir back in the coffee maker. Ensure that there is no K-cup in the Keurig Supreme. Now let’s put the machine in descale mode.

To put your coffee maker in descale mode, turn off the machine but keep it plugged in

Now press the 8 and 12 oz buttons together for 3 to 4 seconds until the K button starts blinking and the descale light blows up

Now you’ve put your machine into descale mode. The K button lights should be flashing, and the descale light should be on.

Start the Descaling Process

Do not unplug your Keurig K-Supreme once it has been put into descale mode.

Now all you need to do is place any container under the coffee maker and press the “K” button until the “add water” light gets on. This will most likely happen when you push the “K” button twice. In some cases, you need to press it three times as well

It will circulate the descaling solution through the heating element and tubes to clean them.

Instead of making regular coffee, when you’re descaling the coffee maker, you might notice that the water comes out slowly and it might splatter a bit. It’s probably a good idea to wrap a cloth around your coffee machine.

You mustn’t press the K button again after the “add water” light goes on. Even if any descaling solution remains in the tank. This might cause problems with the descaling mode, and as a result, the descale light remains on even after you have descaled it.

Now you have to remove the water tank from the machine, wash it with warm water, and dry it. After washing, fill it up with fresh water without adding a descaling solution.

Once you fill-up the water reservoir and put it back in the machine, the “add water” light will turn off. But the descale and K lights will still be blinking.

Keep pressing the K button until the descale and K lights turn off. Then your Keurig K-Supreme coffee maker is ready to use again and you can make coffee like you usually do.

Note:

Whenever you open the lid, it is necessary to dry the inside of the machine with a towel or any other clean cloth because the descaling process also cleans the needles in the machine.

What Should You Do If The Descaling Light Remains On?

After descaling a Keurig K-Supreme, the descaling lights may remain on even after completing the entire procedure due to potential mistakes made during the process.

The initial step you should take is to unplug the machine and wait for four to five minutes before plugging it in again. This action may resolve the issue; if not, the easiest solution is to repeat the descaling process. However, this time you only need to use water since you have already descaled your coffee machine.

Can I Use Vinegar to Descale My Keurig K-Supreme?

You can use white vinegar to descale a Keurig K-Supreme coffee maker. Using vinegar can let you save some money compared to using the Keurig descaling solution.

To clean and descale your Keurig coffee machine, mix 14oz of vinegar with 14oz of water.

If you’re using vinegar, don’t forget to use extra water to rinse. just to ensure that your coffee machine is clean.
