Keurig coffee makers are really good machines in comparison to other brands. It is suitable and easy to use. Although the Keurig K-Slim has all the features that you need to make a perfect cup of coffee, the machine also has a lot of advantages.
But Keurig K-Slim can also give you some issues. One of the most common issues is that the Keurig K-Slim descale light cannot be switched off.
It can frustrate you when you don’t know why this happens or what to do now. There are various things that you can do to fix this issue and make your machine work normally again. Read the article carefully to fix the issue.
A Small Mistake Could Affect The Descale Process
With all the new models of Keurig, like the Keurig K-Slim and Keurig K-Express, you must follow the proper descaling process to put your coffee maker in “descale mode” so that the descale light gets turned off. One small mistake, such as pressing the incorrect button, might disrupt the descaling process.
One simple piece of advice is to always try to descale your coffee maker in your free time because when you do it in your busy schedule, you might make some mistake, such as pressing the incorrect button or any other silly mistake that you could have avoided if you had done it in your free time.
Descale Your Keurig K-Slim While In Descale Mode
With previous Keurig models, all you had to do was pour some vinegar or descale solution into the coffee machine and start brewing, and then the descale light would turn off.
Keurig K-Slim’s descaling process is different from older Keurig models
But with the Keurig K-Slim and other newer models, like the Keurig K-Express and K-Supreme, you have to put the machine in descale mode and follow the entire descaling procedure before the light goes off.
When you purchased your Keurig K-Slim, it came with the original user manual.
The following is the descaling procedure:
- Fill the water tank fully with the descaling solution and the same amount of water.
- Press the 8 and 12oz buttons unless the “K” button blinks and the descale light turns on solidly.
- Press the K button three or four times to activate the add water light.
- Fill the water tank with new water after cleaning it.
- Press the K button three or four times until the K-supreme turns off.
What Should I Do When the Descaling Light Stays On?
After doing the entire procedure, the descale lights still stay on. This happens in certain circumstances when you make a minor error during the process.
Never remove the water tank or open the lid while the machine is in descale mode. This will cancel the descaling mode and you will have to do the whole procedure again. Also, try to avoid touching other buttons than those instructed above because it can also take your machine out of descaling mode.
If none of the options work, the simplest answer is to restart the descaling procedure. However, because you have already descaled your coffee maker, you only need to use water this time.
The Last Thing You Could Try0
If, after several attempts, your machine does not exit descaling mode while going through the same descaling process, the first step is to unplug the machine and wait for four to five minutes before plugging it back in. Doing this can fix your problem.
This trick only works if you have completed the descaling process correctly. If, after doing the process correctly, your machine still shows the descale light on, your coffee machine might be damaged from the inside.
If you suspect that your coffee maker has broken from the inside, then you should get in touch with Keurig’s customer service department. They should be aware of other solutions.
This happens often when you descale your coffee maker, and the descale lights remain on even after the descaling procedure has been completed.
This may happen if you make a minor mistake during the descaling procedure, and you may resolve this problem by following the methods discussed above.
If those steps don’t work for you, you can simply contact Keurig customer service. They might have more solutions to this problem.
